Your gift
I once heard it said that Michael Jackson was quoted as having said something to the effect of, my talent is God's gift to me, what I do with it and the betterment of it is my gift to Him. While I rarely agree with Mr. Jackson, this statement is a great truth. I spoke with someone very dear to me this past weekend. She was in my service and saw me do one of the paintings I sometimes do as part of the service. She is 12 years old and an extremely talented as a visual artist. When she spoke to me about the painting, she said she could never do what I did. I encouraged her to keep at it and that most of my ability could be tracked to the fact that I was 12 with 28 years experience. Truth be known she is better at her age than I ever was, she has a very real gift and if she is faithful and continues to develop her gifts, her work will eclipse anything I have ever done and that is really cool. That's how it is for all of us. We need to take the gift we have been given, devote it to the Lord, develop it and use it to His glory. What are you going to do with the gift you have been given? Develop it and give it to God and see what He does with it.
