My Peace Position
Those who know me know I am a member of a denomination that is a traditional peace church. Those who know me better know that I have a lot of struggles with this position and the fact that in my opinion our peace position looks very little like the founders intended it to be, and even less like The Founder intended.
I love my brothers and sisters dearly, love most of what my denomination stands for dearly, but I have long questioned that anything will really ever be accomplished by carrying a sign and so I give you, my peace position.

Silence and Scripture
Now here's something to contemplate, Dawn and I were going over the daily bread today and she said something that triggered a question in me. Did you realize that there are two periods of silence in the scripture that are both 400 years long? I am wondering if there is a significance to this and so I decided to share it with you for your thoughts. Here's what I know about them. The first period is between Joseph and Moses. During that 400 year period, the Israelites became slaves in Egypt. That may explain the silence.
The second period is between Malachi and Matthew, between the last prophetic voice in the old testament and the birth of Christ. During this time, significant things happened. Empires rose up and were overthrown. The Medo-persians were overthrown by the Greeks, who conquered the known world and made everyone learn Greek, giving the region a common language of commerce at least (similar to English today) Then the Romans took over and created a vast infrastructure (roads and such), making it much more possible to spread the Gospel.
I have a few thoughts on these two periods but am very interested in your perspective. Just something to contemplate.
