This morning I finished two client cartoons for a local hospital. I can't show you the whole thing because they haven't printed it yet, but above is a taste of one of them. I'll also be starting on my sermon tonight and that will be my Saturday project as well. More posts Monday

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 T-shirt design
One of the ladies formerly from my youth group and her husband are members of a billiard team traveling to Vegas for a competition and asked me to design a T-shirt for their team. The name of their team is Indian Spatz it has something to do with the game of nineball, I believe though I know nothing about billiards besides I'm really bad at it. I decided to go with a simple design of a cartoon nine ball chasing the other balls toward the pocket. I mean no offense to anyone by this design, I tried to keep it humorous and light hearted. How does this glorify God? I'm not sure the design itself does, but a guiding principal of my life and ministry is 1 Peter 4:10 which says each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others... A dear friend asked me to do something and this was my way of serving her and her husband.

I woke EARLY this morning with an idea for a cartoon for a client of mine, a Catholic hospital. The idea touched on the faith origins of the hospital and I got up and finished it this morning before going to the office. I'm really pleased with it but I can't share it yet because it's a client job that hasn't been released to their folks. I have another one for them as well that was sketched last night. If I have time that one will also be finished this evening, but I won't be able to share it either. How does this glorify God? My first ministry is my family and it's my responsibility to meet their needs. When the Lord provides opportunities like this I do them to the best of my ability and that glorifies Him and I get paid which allows me to provide for my family, my first calling as a husband and father.

Logo for upcoming conference

My friend and mentor Bob is chairing a major ministry conference and asked me to do some designs. This is a proposed logo. You'll no doubt see more pieces from this as we go as there will be multiple projects involved with this. I also drew a character for an accompanying video.

Monday 8/3/09 The start of the journey

The New Creation Challenge, blogging my creative journey.

Hello to all my faithful readers. As many of you know my church is called New Creation Fellowship and 2 Corinthians 5:17 is a major guiding verse on my life and ministry. Well one day as I was praying, I came upon a thought, as an artist, I make new creations all the time and that led to an idea. What if I try to make at least one new creation every day and post them to my blog? So that is what I am going to attempt to do. Create something new every day to the glory of God. Some of these will be blatantly Christian, some will be things I do to serve others and some will be things I do to faithfully support my family. They may be writings, art, videos and various other projects. I am not trying to put a limit on it, I am just working on being faithful and using and improving my gift and trusting God with the rest. I will try to blog this five days a week, though some days I will be too busy to blog so you will see groupings like today.
