Friday August 14 and Saturday August 15
Well I wrote this post once and my computer deleted it when I did a similar function to what I have done in every other posting. It's only a little aggravating. lol. Friday's project was another writing project. My friend John is helping me live out a vision I have had just about since day one of my ministry. The idea is to create an arts ministry that invites people from the community in to the church to learn various arts forms and to help create performances and exhibitions. The idea behind this is to help people learn new skills and build honest authentic relationships with our neighbors while collaborating and living out our faith in word and deed. The performances and exhibitions would then be used to reach out to the larger community. This was the original vision behind both A.M.O.K. and New Creation Fellowship. Well A.M.O.K. has started and is doing pretty well and New Creation is becoming a good and creative church but the ministry that was supposed to feed them both has remained a vision. John is helping me change that and so my free time on Friday was spent beginning to get that vision down on paper. I'm really excited about this process and you will no doubt see more about it here as it develops, Lord willing.
Saturday is Sermon day. After studying and praying over the passage all week, I am ready to sit down and prayerfully organize the thoughts into a cohesive message. I'll be preaching my second message in the Tale of Two Women Series this week (Lord willing) Also it is my intent to finish my worship painting video based on the passage for the message, John chapter 8:1-11. God has given me some really interesting ideas for this video and if I can execute them properly this will be one of the best so far. If everything goes according to plan, I will post the message and the video Monday and you will see the links here.

No image today. I did a cartoon but it didn't convey the right message so I pulled the plug. They can't all be winners. I did create the worship painting for this week's video last night at Studio New Creation You won't see that til the video goes up. I thought it was done, but this morning I decided to add a few things to it to tell more of the story. Watch for the video Monday.

I got a few things done thanks to the magic of photo shop. My friend Paul Turner of The Disciple Project asked me to do a dashboard for his youth ministry for a book and an upcoming series. If you're in youth ministry check out Paul's site. He has some great ideas for ministry and is an all around great guy. The above is what I did. I also did another cartoon for my hospital client. What are you doing with your gifts to glorify God?

Tuesday August 11, 2009
It was a busy day but I was able to sketch out my worship painting for the weekend. Sometimes they work out like that and sometimes they come to me on the spot as I step up to the easel. This one will not be a ten minute project though and will be done on video and the video presented as part of worship. You'll see that video later in the week Lord willing. I also created another training cartoon for my hospital client. It got finished this morning but since most of the work was done yesterday I am counting it for Tuesday. As usual, it's unpublished so I can't share the whole thing but here's a clip.

Sunday August 9, 2009 A New Video called Living Water
This is one of my worship paintings. This is the type of painting I do almost weekly at my church New Creation Fellowship in Reading, PA. It went along with my sermon on the woman at the well from John 4. I plan to post more like this. The actual painting took between ten and 12 minutes to paint (on a canvas prepared with a white and yellow wash in advance of the service.) I do these paintings based on the scripture or theme of the message and then at the end of the service I speak a little about the painting to sum up the message. We then hang the paintings in the church as a reminder of the teaching. I really encourage all artists in the church to try this and if you need any pointers contact me at amokarts@aol.com

Saturday, August 8, 2009 My Sermon for the Week
Saturday was when I did the brunt of the work on my sermon. It's called a Tale of Two Women; Part One: The Woman at the well. The message is about a woman who had a life changing encounter with Jesus, how you can have one too and how following the teachings of Jesus on this could revitalize your church. You can hear it by clicking this link. A Tale of Two Women Part One: The Woman at the Well
