The Running A.M.O.K. Podcast-7/13/08 The Heart of THE Alpha Omega

For almost three years, I have been spending time with my local theater group (Alpha Omega Players) and having a great time. The more involved I become, the more it stretches me creatively. No I'm not an actor and I only sing in church and my car, but I get to paint and sculpt and create and try new things. It's great. Lately though I have been noticing some things there that I long to see more of in the church. This week's podcast deals with what they are as well as the arts ideas and challenges for the listeners.
Check out the podcast at http://runningamok.mypodcast.com.

Here's a link to a video an early rehearsal of Alpha Omega's production of Children of Eden. They already sound great!

One of the things I have been challenged with lately is to make the creation of art more entertaining.
Here's a guy named David Garibaldi who is fun to watch

Also check these guys out:
Mark Eckel: The Splat Experience
And to my mind the guy that started it all, Mike Lewis, the Jesus Painter
Here are a few folks who are doing some pretty cool things in the "secular world to check out. Let them inspire you to find new, outside the box ways to use your gift to share the gospel.
Michael Israel
Dan Dunn
And one more by David Garibaldi

Using the combination of video and art we have Charlene Rice who I've mentioned before but who needs to be seen by anyone who wants to use art to glorify God.

And to take you totally outside the box, check out Phil in the Circle. Phil is a pointilist artist who uses some very unusual techniques and media. Some of his stuff is edgy, you may question his tools and subject matter on occasion, but he's immensely innovative. One of his main things is called Goodbye Art. where he creates a piece specifically to be destroyed, only existing on the video. Check out this piece.

The photo of my Daniel 7:7,8 painting is coming shortly and will be found at the top of this page.

On the music front we have a review of the new CD by Third Day, Revelation on which I wrote a lesson for the youth ministry resource Interlinc. If you'd like to purchase the CD go to Echoes Student Music Service.
