I want to be Ty Pennington
Yes I know those of you who know my mechanical ability will find this laughable. My version of extreme makeover home edition would be immediately followed by extreme remake over reconstruction edition or perhaps extreme lawsuits,Dave's house fell down again edition, but I have to tell you I love that show.
I mean it's beautiful, a bunch of amazing designers led by Ty Pennington come in to a very deserving family's broken down home and turn it into a fantastic dream home and often change lives in the process. Last night's show was exceptional. Ty and company came to the home of a young man who had been gunned down by a gang member in a case of mistaken identity. The young man went from stand out college basketball player to paraplegic in mere moments. His injuries created an impossible situation. The family got a grant to make the house accessible, only to have the unscrupulous contractor damage their house and take off with all their money. Ty and the designers came in and saved the day. They built not one but two houses. One for the young man and his fiance and one for the family. The house had some of the most amazing devices I have ever seen that would allow this young man to do the vast majority of taking care of himself. But not just that they also bought the engagement ring the young man could not afford and threw them a wedding the very night they got home. It was amazing and it left me once again asking what am I doing? I want to be Ty Pennington. I want to make people's dreams come true, repair broken lives and in general help people.
Now I'm the first to admit that I have neither the skills or the talents to do what Ty does week after week, but what can I do to serve others with the gifts I do have? How can I use what I have been given to make a difference? That is the reason I founded A.M.O.K. and I think from time to time we all need to be reminded of two scriptures. 1Peter 4:10 Each one should use whatever gifts he has received to serve others and Matthew 19:26b With God all things are possible. Use your gifts for others, dream big and run A.M.O.K.
God bless
